Cleo is always willing to accept the tough assignments and does so with compassion, caring, and an unbelievable sense of organization.
Where do I even start? Cleo is an outstanding resource, leader, and asset to SICU. Her commitment to Wesley, and specifically the heart program, is truly remarkable. She dedicates SO much time outside of work to betting our heart program. She is a liaison between mid-levels, surgeons, and nurses; constantly receiving and giving feedback to make patient outcomes as best as possible. She takes it upon herself to staff our TAVRs, CABGs, and most recently our ECMO by coordinating staff and surgery schedules. She makes my job SO much easier. Cleo is also extremely flexible - picking up night shifts because that is what the unit NEEDS. She will take tough assignments without batting an eye. She truly is selfless. Cleo has put together countless education materials for both new and seasoned nurses. Our ECMO program has grown tremendously with Cleo's help. When Cleo is on the unit, I know my shift will run SO MUCH smoother. She knows what needs to be done without being asked. She is always one step ahead. Her ability to multitask, remain levelheaded and provide top-notch care needs to be recognized. Ask anybody on our unit about her, and I guarantee they say she is a ROCKSTAR. Whether she is providing patient care or doing "behind the scenes" tasks, she does it with passion and excellence. Cleo is such an asset to Wesley Medical Center and I am beyond proud to work alongside her.
I have worked with Cleo for many years and have always found her to be a great unit resource. Cleo is someone that saw a great need with staffing and scheduling staff to take the post-op heart patients in a proactive fashion. She devised a plan and system and has continued to set this standard up weekly. It has been a HUGE assistance and relief for CNCs and charge staff in the SICU and has alleviated the daily scramble and hair-pulling that had previously been the normal everyday practice Cleo is always willing to accept the tough assignments and does so with compassion, caring, and an unbelievable sense of organization. She is a unit preceptor when and wherever needed. Cleo is a great resource to the staff or at least knows where to go to get that answer. She is ultra-flexible working days or nights and being on call for the fledgling ECMO program. Cleo is very invested in Wesley's heart program and is very excited to advance our ECMO program. She is actively organizing education classes for ECMO and was active in the monthly CV unit meetings. When I see Cleo working I know that I will have the support on that shift and that it will be a good shift.
Note: This is Cleo's 2nd DAISY Award!
