Without any request on my part, and as we both shopped at the same store, Joanna immediately insisted on going to the supermarket for me.
I am a disabled senior citizen. Because of the current Covid-19 situation, I am sequestered in my apartment. During a routine visit to dress my leg wounds, I offhandedly mentioned to Joanna that my usual support people were afraid to go to the supermarket due to the pandemic. As a result, I was having trouble getting food, especially perishables.
Without any request on my part, and as we both shopped at the same store, she immediately insisted on going to the supermarket for me. Nothing I could say would dissuade her. She also insisted that she would cover the cost of my food, and again, I could not dissuade her. She said that she planned to go shopping the next day, and she would visit me in advance before delivering the groceries. I explained that I had a budget for food and could easily reimburse her for the cost of the food, but she would hear nothing of it.
A few days later, I received a call from her saying she had just left a bag of groceries at my door and I should retrieve it and put the perishables in the fridge. I asked her to let me reimburse her for her expenses. She replied that we would see each other soon and that I could reimburse her then. I have not heard from her since.
