Seda’s humble and inclusive attitude has resulted not only in improved HCAHPS (patient experience data) but also in fostering an interdependent team approach.
During Seda's time as an Assistant Nurse Manager for the Manteca Periop team, she exhibited keen problem solving, collaboration, and leadership skills. Due to her leadership abilities, she was promoted to Periop Manager for Manteca and the patient and staff experience has significantly improved and continues to improve as Seda continues to actively learn and grow in her management position. The Manteca Surgical Service Line performance has improved significantly under the leadership of Seda Vash. Seda has been instrumental in creating a seamless experience for patients who have unplanned surgeries as well as improved processes for staff with their input and collaboration. Improved processes for staff have promoted joy in practice for Seda's team and have fostered a culture of speaking up and proactive resolution among Periop teammates.
Prior to establishing the Surgical Service Line team, patient experience suffered. With regularity, patients were subjected to multiple breakdowns in our internal communication and throughout each step of their journey from ED, to PeriOp and through discharging home from the Adult Services Unit. This also caused unnecessary concern for staff and stakeholders, which Seda was quick to seek solutions. The Surgical Service Line team was formed in the Spring of 2020 and was focused on improving the unplanned surgical experience. Seda quickly took ownership. In seven months, under Seda's leadership, the Surgical Service Line HCAHPS Summary Star has met or exceeded the target and achieved the highest performance Summary Star rating in May.
Not only did Seda own patient experience outcomes, but she was also quick to respond to feedback and recommendations from peers, employees, leaders, and physicians as well as pioneering solutions. Seda's humble and inclusive attitude has resulted not only in improved HCAHPS (patient experience data) but also in fostering an interdependent team approach between departments of TPMG and KFH. Where there were once silos, interdependent work now occurs as One KP and patient experience has significantly improved. Most recently, Seda has started Nurse Leader Rounding in Adult Services to follow the patients she and her team cared for in PeriOp. These efforts are broadening the understanding of Seda and her team and have further assisted in collaborative relationships with inpatient nurses, physicians, and staff. Seda leads best practices and is genuine in all she does.
