Ginger even created a "5 senses of soothing box" to give to the patient to incorporate during times of distress.
One of our psychologists had to go on maternity leave, and a specific patient of hers was incredibly distraught. Ginger took it upon herself to step in and be there for this patient during the leave of absence. Ginger spent her own personal time learning Dialectical Behavior therapy and different techniques to support this patient when she called in a crisis. Ginger formulated a plan with this patient and performed phone coaching daily. This has provided a great deal of emotional support for the patient and has reduced the patient's need to utilize emergency services. The patient continues to lean on Ginger's support, encouragement, and guidance during this period of change. Ginger even created a "5 senses of soothing box" to give to the patient to incorporate during times of distress. I have been inspired by Ginger's actions. She has gone above and beyond for this patient. All because she recognized this patient's mental health would be detrimentally affected without a seamless transition of care.
Ginger truly does have the heart of a nurse. I know she would do this for any of our other patients too. I am honored to work beside her and learn from her. She comes to work with a positive attitude every day and brings light to where she goes. She makes a significant impact on our patients at Archway and her coworkers, including me. I have personally witnessed her empathetic nature, strong work ethic, and love for our mental health patients who, at times, can be overlooked.
