As he did before, Michael made her feel calm and talked to her in a way that she could understand.
A couple of years ago, our daughter had a weeklong stay in the Neurocritical Care Unit at Dartmouth-Hitchcock for testing to see if she would be eligible for surgery. During this time, she was very anxious and then, along came her nurse, Michael Reardon. He was very attentive to her needs and talked in a calming manner. She felt at ease and was able to get through her tests quickly. We should have nominated Michael for this award back then, but for some reason, it never happened.
Fast forward almost a year when she was finally able to have her surgery. Due to COVID-19, only I (her mother) was able to stay with her. Once again, we were lucky enough to have Michael as her nurse during her recovery. As he did before, Michael made her feel calm and talked to her in a way that she could understand. When it came time that she needed something he was always very quick to respond and to take care of her needs.
During a scary time of having her surgery and the restrictions that COVID-19 presented, it was nice to know that when I left, she would be in good hands. Michael is caring and compassionate about patients and is a great asset to the Dartmouth-Hitchcock nursing team.
