Gloria always goes above and beyond for patients and their families. She has an abundance of nursing knowledge with many years of nursing experience. One of our early patients in the Covid unit was often restless and had trouble resting. He was a DNR and spent many nights in the unit. On Gloria's nights, she would sing and play Frank Sinatra as she sat with him. The patient was always less restless when Gloria was in the room and Sinatra was playing. Being in the Covid unit, the nurses tend to limit their time in patient rooms in order to limit their exposure to the virus. Gloria was not intimidated by increased exposure to Covid. The patient was not a close observation but Gloria did not want the patient to be alone and hoped to make him feel more comfortable. Gloria went out of her way to provide extra care to this patient and she asked all of the nurses that followed her to play Frank Sinatra for the patient. Unfortunately, this patient ended up passing away on the Covid unit. I hope that if my family is ever sick, they have a nurse as empathetic and knowledgeable as Gloria to care for them. Gloria deserves to be recognized for her selflessness and passion for nursing.
