We are thankful Courtney was there that day, and although our paths may never cross again, I will never forget how caring she was on that day.
Courtney received two DAISY nominations:
Nomination 1:
Although we were at Carilion New River Valley Medical Center for only one day, she made a huge impact on us. A few weeks ago, my son, who attends Radford University, had to have immediate surgery for a very large kidney stone. We chose to do it there as opposed to bringing him home. We made that decision due to the urgency of the situation and his experience with the ER and Urologist.
As you can imagine, we were both very anxious about the procedure and outcome. Courtney provided immense support and comfort. She was thorough in her explanations of the procedure, process afterward and communicated with me throughout the day. Her pleasant nature and attention to the students who come through the outpatient center impressed me a great deal. She has compassion and caring for people and does her job very well. We are all fortunate there are Nurses who not only take care of the medical stuff but also the emotional needs of patients and family. The value of this piece of the puzzle should never be underestimated. We are thankful Courtney was there that day, and although our paths may never cross again, I will never forget how caring she was on that day.
Nomination 2:
Courtney was such a caring Nurse. She made sure that we were taken care of. She put me at ease when I was facing surgery and made sure my family was kept up-to-date and taken care of while he waited for me to come out of surgery. She has been my Nurse more than once. Courtney also gives her all to everyone she takes care of.
