Mica would often pray with her patients and encourage them.
Mica Mitchell, RN is enthusiastic about life and about being a nurse. She comes to work with a sense that she can accomplish anything. She has a big heart and loves her patients. When we had COVID patients, Mica would often pray with her patients and encourage them. As patients recovered and were able to be discharged, I could hear a commotion on the unit, and it would be Mica cheering, clapping, and celebrating with her patients as they were going home.

In the midst of handling COVID patients, Mica wrote:

"I am not writing this because I am tired emotionally or physically. I am writing about how I am SPIRITUALLY growing as a nurse during the pandemic. While taking care of COVID patients I am Praying Harder for my patients than I ever have before! I am praying for safety over my coworkers, family, and myself. And I can tell when my patients want a hug, I give them a hug because I am the only family that they can touch that day. I hold their hand and remind them this virus is not bigger than them, and that no matter what...Jesus loves them! When we discharge a COVID patient, we play a song, "Here Comes the Sun" by the Beatles and this song made me cry the other day because I saw the face of the patient being discharged, and she cried happy tears! She was so grateful and thankful to go home! Moments like that make me thankful that I am able to bring joy to my patient even when it seems like there is no light at the end of the tunnel. I am not tired or mad at anyone for this Corona Virus; however, I am glad that I have an opportunity to be Jesus' hands and feet to these patients. I am not growing weary. I am growing spiritually. I choose to LOVE. I choose to love my patients and coworkers. I choose to leave this COVID mess up to Jesus and do my part as a Registered Nurse...I will rejoice that God has given me the ability to LOVE and CARE for others in my profession."

Mica is well-liked by nursing students. She was recognized for doing a great job teaching the students on the unit. She also encourages new employees who are training on the unit.

Mica loves life and loves her work. I am so proud to have her working here.
