I have appreciated Kasey so much this year. It has been an extremely difficult time with COVID and the stress and challenges it has brought with it. Kasey has been a mentor for me. He has been a friend and he has been somebody I can always go to when I have a question, a concern, or I just need a supportive friend to talk to. He is extremely knowledgeable and answers my questions. He is constantly teaching me and helping me learn. He never gets frustrated and always helps me when I ask him to.
There have been multiple nights where we have both had very busy and difficult patients, yet he is always happy to help me. He never makes me feel bad or like I am a burden for asking. He truly cares about the people he takes care of. He takes the time to make sure they are safe, comfortable, and well cared for. I have seen him on multiple occasions trying to think of different ways to help his patient.
One night a patient was very confused, anxious, and trying to pull out lines and catheters. He was also combative towards the nurses. Kasey went in and talked with him. He got to the root of the problem. He realized the man felt like he could not communicate. Kasey communicated with him and then he made a little toy for the man to hold and keep his hands busy. This completely changed the behavior of this patient. This is just one example.
Kasey is imaginative and creative and finds alternative ways to treat a huge array of problems. He truly does go above and beyond for his patients. If I were in the hospital, Kasey is the nurse I would want to take care of me or my family. I do not know if Kasey will hear this but if he does, Kasey, thank you for your hard work. It does not go unnoticed. You have been a friend and a mentor to me when I have really needed it.
