Natasha selflessly cared for the baby and the mom in a difficult situation for hours.
I would like to nominate Natasha Logan for a DAISY Award. There are countless stories and examples of why Natasha is deserving of a DAISY Award. Her focus always remains on doing the right thing for our patients every single day, every single interaction. Natasha is kind, compassionate, and dedicated to her patients as well as their families and her co-workers. There is not a day that goes by in the ED without Natasha going above and beyond for patients, families, and co-workers.
Just recently, there was a very difficult patient situation that landed in the ED early Sunday morning. A concerned mother brought in her infant daughter because she was concerned about the baby's health. This particular case was not that simple. We quickly realized that the mom was in crisis, not the baby. Our top priority became making sure the baby was safe and the mom remained safe. Natasha did not hesitate to step up for this patient and her mom. With every encounter with the mom, Natasha treated her with kindness and respect, no matter what the mom said or did. Natasha spent hours holding the baby, caring for the baby, and caring for the mom. Over the time this baby was in the ED, Natasha never stepped away when asked if she needed a break. Natasha selflessly cared for the baby and the mom in a difficult situation for hours.
During the 8 hours that this patient was in the ED, law enforcement, social work, DCS, and hospital staff spent time and resources to make sure the baby was safe and that the mom got the help she needed. While other staff sorted this piece out, Natasha focused ALL her energy on mom and baby. Mom did not allow another person to help her. Natasha took the time to bond with the mom and care for the baby. Her patience and kindness allowed the other staff the ability and time to facilitate the best outcome for the baby and mom.
I am proud to call Natasha a co-worker and friend. This is just one example of how she exudes integrity, respect, teamwork, excellence, and enthusiasm in her position as a Nurse in the Emergency Department at ETCH. There is no one more deserving of a DAISY Award than Natasha.
