This was my very first time on the oncology unit and I really didn't know what to expect. Hearing that my stage 2 cancer had progressed to stage 4 was jarring, to say the least, but Nurse Sloan made my experience less scary. Sloan demonstrates integrity, compassion, patience, kindness, and is extremely attentive. I am grateful that she was part of my team.
Now, this does not mean that each and every nurse I was assigned to were not great, in fact, they all were extraordinary. I would like to nominate them all for their professionalism, consideration, and compassion! But because I can only nominate one, it is Nurse Sloan. She loves nursing, you can feel it when she walks in the room, you hear it in her tone, and you believe it when she looks at you.
I truly believe that positive energy is the first part of healing, and Nurse Sloan exemplifies grace and positive energy. She believes in her life's work and purpose. I am humbled that God would have placed so many kind and passionate nurses in my path so that I could move forward in my life!
