A patient of mine had a vascular procedure of the leg and needed to be monitored for neuro/vascular checks. The night nurse had been told by the patient she was in pain all night. Kaylyn came on to her shift and upon assessing the patient, recognized the patient had no pulses, pain, cold foot. She immediately called me so I could initiate anticoagulant therapy and schedule her surgery. She kept the leg warm with warm blankets, communicated with the vascular lab team. She demonstrated excellent communication and recognition of a patient completely. She was empathetic, enthusiastic, warm, and compassionate. She was organized and able to prioritize patient care. She makes herself available to care for the patients, has strong assessment skills, and is able to critically think and intervene. She is a strong patient advocate who helped to save a patient's limb from further complications.
