Ruth is a thoughtful hardworking nursing student who consistently demonstrates compassion, competence, and professionalism in her clinical practice. Ruth is in her senior year of nursing school at George Mason University. During her preceptorship, Ruth divided her time between an acute care setting and a community health setting. Ruth precepted at the Mason's and Partner's (MAP) Clinic, primarily in the COVID-19 vaccine clinic. MAP clinics serve the uninsured and undocumented communities within Prince William and Fairfax counties in Northern Virginia.
Ruth collaborated with fellow students to create and implement a vaccine promotion campaign directed at the local undocumented and immigrant population. Additionally, Ruth trained and is proficient in all clinical and non-clinical roles in the vaccine clinic. Ruth's versatility in the clinic allowed her to orient new volunteers and students to the vaccine clinic. Ruth's professionalism combined with personability in training and orienting new volunteers were highlighted by the Dean of the College of Health and Human Services. Ruth exemplifies the best qualities and foundational principles of being a nurse.
