Being an instructor is something special, but even more special is to be a mentor. Being a mentor not only entails a caring person but a person who truly provides guidance and advice. All of those qualities make Dr. Diane Nuñez by far the best instructor, mentor, and guide I have ever had in my life. As a doctoral student, there are several hats that I wear that include being a mother, being a nurse, and being a student. Dr. Nuñez has always provided me with support, emails, and even tissues when I have needed them. There is not a specific situation or time in which she was caring for her students as to why she deserves this award, because she does it all the time. She commits to the Doctor of Nursing Practice program with her heart, and I believe the program is as great as it is because of her kindness and expertise as a provider and as a faculty member. Her classes, quality of her presentations, email response time, and overall time that she provides to all of her students show her time commitment to a force of DNP students that will have succeeded in this journey thanks to her. I cannot even imagine going through this program without the guidance of Dr. Nuñez. This nomination is not only because she deserves it, but because I would like to let her know that we notice that she cares for her students.
Note: This is Diane 's 2nd DAISY Faculty Award!
