Her professionalism, level of care and concern have been exemplary!
My mother-in-law is currently a patient. As I write this, we still do not have any answers as to why she has been having episodes of falling and losing control of her body. She does not remember this or have any warning when it is about to happen. Based on the tests so far, we can rule out many things, but do not know the cause. This note to you is not about the answers not being found. I am writing to you based on the efforts of an EXCEPTIONAL Nurse that has cared for her the past three nights.
Emily has been doing all she can to advocate for S and has built her trust in a truly short time. She witnessed an episode on Monday evening. I was there as they were going to discharge her that evening. Emily has since been able to explain to the other medical professionals that she was not safe to be released in a way I could not do. As I am not a medical professional, I did not have the terminology to express these things the way Emily could. In addition to caring for her patient, she has gone above and beyond to explain things to me when I call.
We live a distance from Appleton. I also have a brother with several serious medical issues happening at the same time. Having two family members with serious health issues and being POA for both has had me dealing with a large number of health professionals in several facilities the past couple of weeks.
I tell you that so you can understand that I have a lot of experience dealing with medical staff that have had to rethink and change how they do things for a pandemic and a year of stress. I need you to know what an asset Emily is and if it were in my power, I would give her an Award and a raise. Her professionalism, level of care and concern have been exemplary!
All of the staff have been kind and helpful, but Emily has made S comfortable and worked hard on her behalf, as well as making sure I understand what is happening.
