Tatum provided kind and compassionate care
Tatum Sellers provided exceptional care to a mother of a stillborn baby. Tatum provided kind and compassionate care when laboring and delivering the baby. However, it was not the care during the labor and delivery that had me in awe, but the immediate postpartum care.
The patient and her husband had a single wish to watch the sunrise with their stillborn baby and Tatum did everything in her power to make that happen. Tatum approached me as charge and pleaded if there was any way she could give this grieving mother her only wish.
After Tatum transferred the patient to postpartum and when the patient was no longer in her care, she looked up the time for first light and then went back to postpartum to escort the patient, her husband, and their stillborn child to the roof of the parking garage, where she thought the view of the sunrise would be best. There she stayed with the patient, taking unforgettable family pictures for them, in this once-in-a-lifetime moment for the family.
Time was of no bother to Tatum as she stayed well past the end of her shift, chaperoning and providing them the support they needed during their time of despair. The compassion she showed this patient went above and beyond her role as a Nurse. I am incredibly proud of her for the exceptional care and memories she provided for this patient.
