Code Lavender is a crisis intervention strategy designed to provide support to healthcare providers during times of high stress. It is an internal method of communicating with other team members and indicates that a staff member is overwhelmed with immediate patient care tasks that are needed to provide safe and quality care. Team members who are able to assist in these tasks respond.

As a Nurse-led task force, the Code Lavender team provides emotional, physical, and spiritual support to the staff members. This team exemplifies Memorial Hermann Values of Community, Compassion, Courage, and Credibility. When a staff activates a Code Lavender, it takes courage to acknowledge that you need immediate help. Acting bravely and credible to make sure the patient is provided safe and high-quality care. A community is mobilized to help the staff member regroup. All this shows compassion at its best!
Thank you for all that you do!
