Denise told her whom to call, and followed up with the patient later the same day
There have been so many examples of Denise Mullane-Platzer going above and beyond for patients and teammates. The most recent one involves a young patient with multiple comorbid conditions who got discharged home after prolonged hospitalization and rehab. The patient arrived at the clinic with BP and blood glucose out of control with no knowledge of what medications she should be taking to control them. Denise made multiple calls to the nephrologist, cardiologist, endocrinologist and didn't stop until she got the correct medications and plan for the patient going forward. The next day, the patient called very worried about her blood sugar level, Denise told her whom to call, and followed up with the patient later the same day to see how she was doing. The patient was grateful and felt fully supported.
Another great example of Denise’s compassion is during our early COVID-19 days when all of us were not sure what was happening around us, she was the one who said "yes" to support the COVID-19 positive clinic and was there three times a week to take care of patients for months. She never says no to a teammate with switching a day or shift to make sure the patients get proper care at any time. Denise is a role model for many of our Nurses.
