Diane remained calm while she devised a plan
Diane Martin was caring for a morbidly obese patient. The patient was moving himself to a chair when he lost his balance and slid to his knees. While he tried to get back up, he was unable to get back onto his feet or to the chair. His weight made assisting him back up very difficult. The gentleman was very embarrassed and apologetic. Diane remained calm while she devised a plan to assist him back up. She confidently and quietly coordinated staff, requesting assistance from other units. Using the patient lift and expertise from the rehab unit, the man was able to get off the floor to the wheelchair. The patient was so appreciative of Diane and the respectful way that she treated him. Diane took what was a very embarrassing situation for the patient and turned it into a positive experience for the hospital. Thank you, Diane, for the caring and compassionate way you treated this patient!
