My wife was being induced to deliver our first child. During induction, my wife started having very frequent and intense contractions before she was fully dilated. Watching the monitors and conversing with Dr. S, together they noticed the baby was in distress and his heart rate dropped after some contractions.
Our night nurse, Kaitlyn, came into our room every 10-15 minutes to help my wife reposition to reduce the stress the contractions were having on our son. She went above and beyond to make sure our baby was delivered naturally, safely, and most importantly healthy. As someone who worked nights in the past myself I know about the challenges working nights has, and the sometimes additional work the off shifts have because of staffing issues. Kaitlyn did an exemplary job and she never once complained. She was positive the whole time and helped my wife tremendously and with great kindness.
Our baby boy was delivered naturally and healthy, and I truly believe that it would have been different if Kaitlyn hadn't been so attentive and caring for my wife and child. She was even great the following night helping my wife with breast feeding and giving tips and encouraging words. I hope that if we have future kids, Kaitlyn is our nurse.

After having a failed epidural, Kaitlyn was there every step of the way. She encouraged me when I was feeling defeated after not progressing. Once labor kicked in and I was miserable she kept telling me how I was doing a good job and how I could do it. When I wanted to give up and have a c-section she told me I could do it. When my daughter's heart rate was dropping she kept calm so I wouldn't panic. She handled everything calmly and smoothly. The doctor missed the delivery. Kaitlyn was able to unwrap the cord from my daughter's neck and safely catch her. I honestly don't think I could have done it without her positive attitude and her being there every step of the way. After talking to other moms they all knew who she was before saying her name. She is simply an amazing nurse!
