My Nurse, Bernadette Dempsey, from my first night post-op stay was excellent. Bernadette made me feel at home and also noticed an important drug issue. I had stopped breathing during the surgery due to likely undiagnosed sleep apnea brought on by weight gain in the past year from a bad knee. Post-op they prescribed Dilaudid and she mentioned that is a powerful sedative and perhaps should use something less strong and in turn put up with some pain but avoid respiratory issues when I get home. Bernadette and I asked the doctor and they agreed to change it to a less powerful medication. Bernadette is at the top of her game. All the nurses were very helpful pleasant and this was my best experience ever in a longer hospital stay.
