Kate is always dependable and competent in any role
Many people recognize Kate Reiner, BSN, RN:

It is difficult to choose just one story that shows how compassionate and caring Kate is. She has taught me patience and active listening. She is an excellent team leader and always willing to lend a helping hand to her co-workers. Even in the most challenging days, Kate remains calm and steps up to the plate. I watch her walk around the courtyard with some of our most depressed patients who did not leave their bed for days. I have also seen her sit with several paranoid patients as they ate their first meal in days. She is a miracle worker and our patients are very lucky to have a nurse like Kate.

Kate is always a calming presence on the unit and no matter the population or staff on the unit, her bubbly, bright disposition, and way with the patients always shines through. We had a patient who had no belongings, supports, or money, being discharged to a group home and Kate went out and helped me put together a huge care package. She bought her pants, shirts and a hoodie. Kate is also never afraid to take charge in a code. We had a patient who assaulted multiple male staff and hurt himself and Kate jumped in a group of men preventing the patient from further slamming his head into a wall and harming himself or others.

Kate R has been an FT employee and RN at HBHC for years. She offers above-average quality of care to her patients. She is a person of true integrity and treats all patients, staff, visitors, and family members with dignity and respect. There are numerous occasions that come to mind where Kate R. has exceeded the level of excellence in her work and professional development. Most recently, I would like to highlight her willingness to work on a COVD-19 isolation unit. As a social worker, it is my duty to have the patients complete a satisfaction survey prior to discharge. Kate's name has been on many of these surveys and she deserves continued praise, thanks, and congratulations for her amazing care as a RN.

Kate is an exceptional nurse. She is dedicated to the care and needs of the patients she services on the adult unit. Kate is always dependable and competent in any role on the unit whether it is as charge nurse or med nurse, she is able to ensure that discharges, treatment teams, medications, and any issue that arises are handled appropriately and are communicated in timely and effective manner with the treatment team. Specifically, Kate is the charge nurse that is assigned to court Fridays. Kate has been proven to be an asset and a strong leader on court Fridays which are historically known for their difficulty due to the acuity of the unit and patient population. Kate is able to identify any potential issues prior to court, help deescalate them and handle others that may arise limiting the potential for codes. Kate ensures that court Fridays run as seamlessly as possible not only for the patients but for the other staff on the unit. Kate has been an asset to not only my treatment team but to this hospital.

Kate worked on the COVID unit for an extended amount of time upon returning to work from coping and recuperating with having COVID herself. In addition, she is an outstanding nurse on the unit and dedicates herself to caring for the patients.
