Haley could make her laugh, smile, and feel more comfortable
Our Mom was transferred to Sioux Falls after experiencing severe hallucinations, confusion, and other neurological abnormalities. We don't know what her outcome looks like, but Haley Blankespoor deserves all the recognition in the world and then some.
Haley was always upbeat and gentle with Mom, encouraging food and fluid intake, as that was something she was struggling with also. Haley could make her laugh, smile, and feel more comfortable when at times we couldn't even do that. Her service and sincere care for Mom moved me to tears.
One evening when it was time for me to go, Mom was struggling and was very confused and upset. Haley came in at the perfect time to help diffuse her worries and before we knew it, Mom was offering each of us a strawberry from her suitcase to share! Even though in her confusion Mom knew in some special way she too, wanted to show appreciation to Haley for going above and beyond. Mom didn't have strawberries, but they are her favorite.
As I told my Mom that I loved her, I was able to leave the room with a feeling of comfort, knowing that she was now happy, as Haley winked and continued to sit with her and help her feel better. I could hear their giggles as I slowly walked down the hall.
Haley was with Mom for some of the hardest and most difficult moments of her life.
Haley is wonderful and special. An absolute blessing!
Thank you Haley for everything! Words just aren't enough!
