Rachel Krabbe goes above and beyond for her patients as well as her coworkers. She takes on more than she should in many cases not really leaving much for herself. Rachel attends to the needs of her patients with grace and skill while still helping her coworkers to meet the needs of their patients as well. Rachel is very caring and treats staff and patients with the respect and dignity that one would show their own family. She goes out of her way to make patients and staff feel good and cared about.
One time that comes to mind was when a repeat chemo patient would come in and Rachel was the only one who could access her port without issue. This patient, due to her treatment, was always cold no matter how many hospital blankets we gave her. Before the patient’s next admission, Rachel went and purchased a nice heavy throw blanket and gave it to the patient to keep and bring with her when she came for treatments so she could stay nice and warm while with us. Rachel always goes above and beyond during the holidays or special events to surprise her team with snacks, treats, and little extras to help the unit feel more like a family especially during the holidays. Rachel is a strong person and an even stronger nurse who does and will continue to do amazing things for her patients and coworkers. She is a great asset to this organization and nursing as a whole.
