Nissa Simmons is an extraordinary professional nurse. Nissa has a level of empathy we would all want in our care. She is often seeking to improve the experience of the patients. She recently addressed concerns for a patient with a head injury, keeping the member safe, and raising the regional issue to protect others in a similar situation. Her tireless advocacy to make sure things are done right and with the member in the center makes me proud to know she is on the other end of the line for any patient reaching out for assistance.
Nissa actively advocates by being a union steward, serving on nursing governance, and several other regional initiatives to advocate for patient-centered high-quality compassionate care. Nissa donated $500 worth of gifts to a family in a KP sponsored shelter, she did this without questions or asking for recognition, she empathized with other women who are currently experiencing difficulties and selflessly gave to them.
As a regional colleague, she recently was of great assistance to our urgent care team who needed resources for multiple patients needing to connect with behavioral health. As a colleague she has provided compassion and empathy to many of us, treating us with the care and kindness she shows KP patients during this pandemic. Nissa has personally and professionally enriched my life with her nursing care.
