Mr. Vergara did not hesitate in administering first aid
Mr. Jonathan Vergara showed a quick response to a Veteran who passed out in the parking lot after his tour had ended. Mr. Vergara did not hesitate in administering first aid to the Veteran. It was comforting seeing Mr. Vergara getting down on the ground putting cloth under the Veteran's head to get the Veteran off the hot ground also he was making sure the Veteran was stabilized. Mr. Vergara kept asking the Veteran questions to make sure the Veteran was responsive. Mr. Vergara stayed with the Veteran until the ambulance arrived and went through the handoff process.
When I saw Mr. Vergara the next day, I said, it's funny how people walked by and didn't ask if he needed some assistance. Then I went on to say even though I couldn't help I'm just a clerk, Mr. Vergara took the opportunity to educate me by saying everyone could have helped. I didn't have gloves somebody could have given me some, I needed something to put under the Veteran's head to get his head off the ground so don't ever think your role isn't important because it is.
I went on to tell Mr. Vergara thank you for educating me on how I could have been of help in the future.
