AR’s nurse, Tara Dailey, has shown incredible care and compassion throughout her stay here at CCMC. Tara has been tentative to AR’s needs and has answered all of my zillion questions. AR has cerebral palsy and can often get upset when she feels like someone is not understanding what she wants. She is nonverbal, but not non-communicative.
She has been all smiles during her stay. However, AR had an intense moment where she became extremely upset. I could not figure out what was wrong with AR and I quickly called for the nurse using the call button.
Tara came in immediately ready to help. She talked directly to AR asking her questions about her body to see if she was in pain, uncomfortable, etc. AR was screaming and had just had surgery the day before. I was worried she was going to hurt herself but Tara not only helped AR communicate her needs but also helped me remain calm during the episode.
Knowing AR, that could have continued for hours. I truly believed AR felt Tara's compassion for her and that she wanted to know what was bothering her. We were able to get her comfortable and she became all smiles again. She has seriously just been the best!
