In the Emergency Department, we had a pediatric psych patient who was here for almost a week. This patient was in foster care and had a really rough time there. During his stay here we had outbursts of uncontrolled behavior and the patient even gave himself a bloody nose.
During those outbursts, Kristin Mathews was able to calm him down and hugged the patient until he was okay again. Kristin would take care of him even on days he wasn't her patient. One day she even brought in clothes from her home that her children had outgrown. Kristin truly showed what true compassionate care means. She was a blessing to this patient and it showed.
