Lisa Mackie is an optimal role model and leader. I have worked in the ED most of my career and can say without a doubt we have never had a leader that cares so much about the department and people that work there. She provides support and guidance to all staff. Her door is always open, and she truly cares what you have to say. Lisa is always collaborative with other departments and wants the best for RUHS. She is an advocate for her staff. There have been several times where the department census has been high, nurses haven’t had a break and more patients kept coming. Lisa canceled all her non-essential meetings to provide assistance and support on the floor for staff to be able to break. Others may have just let them figure it out or go without a break, but not Lisa. Lisa has adopted the “Howard Hawley Heart of Gold” Award within the ED, which recognizes staff who have gone above and beyond with a golden heart pin. It’s an amazing way to commemorate a retired and beloved ED leader and promote the mission and vision of RUHS within the staff. All the work Lisa does is for patient care. She goes above and beyond to ensure humanity remains intact within the care her department provides. She inspires her staff to be better and do better for the patient and their family. RUHS is Lucky to have such an amazing leader!
