Mari consistently demonstrated caring to patient, family and coworkers. We spent two nights in L &D, inducing labor and that lead to our s-section. Mari was our assigned nurse both nights. We had a lot of nurses assigned to us during our stay here and while they were all excellent, she stood out above all of them. From first time Mari came into our room, she was excellent in all regards. She spent plenty of time looking in on my wife and checking and double checking her pain management. She spent extra time getting to know our family and answering all of our questions. During my wife’s c-section, she was there to take pictures of our child on her phone when I didn’t think to bring my camera with me. She not only helped us get our daughter through some of those first night milestones, but also took time to educate us on what she was doing so that we could do better in the future. And because Mari knew the staff was stretched thin in the mother baby unit that night, she came back to check in on us later on in the morning even when we were no longer her responsibility to make sure we were doing okay and to see if there was anything else we needed. Mari goes above and beyond her duties both in care for patients and support of fellow nurses and it’s without a doubt in my mind she deserves this recognition.
