Recently, Brent was my OR nurse when I underwent foot surgery resulting from an injury last summer. Although I wasn’t too apprehensive when Brent walked into my pre-op room all my subconscious fears and anxieties instantly vanished. Brent wheeled me back to the OR, helped me slide over to the operating table, explained everything that was happening around me, then told me he’d see me when I woke back up. Brent's smiling face was the last thing I saw before surgery and the first thing I saw after surgery. Not only that, but he reached out to me on more than one occasion when I was home and off work to check on me and see if I needed anything.
Brent takes pride in his work and makes sure every single patient he encounters has the best surgical experience they can have. He is caring, compassionate, personable, and a breath of fresh air. I could go on and on about him. He is simply wonderful; an asset to MercyOne Waterloo’s OR team.
Not only have I been under his direct care, but I have also worked alongside him as I both send patients to and received patients from the OR. Brent completely demonstrates MercyOne’ s Visions, Values, and Beliefs day in and day out, with every single patient and every single co-worker, and I am honored to nominate him for the DAISY Award
