Nicole was always looking out not only for me but for my accompanying family member.
Normally a night nurse who never calls in sick, I had to visit the ED as a patient. Fortunately, I was a “treat and street”. Even more fortunate for me was having Nicole for the visit. She checks all the boxes for the DAISY values.
My first RN job was in the ED; turned out I was much better as an ICU Stepdown Nurse, so I am really impressed when I meet a great one. She is just a “natural” who made me feel as good as I could the one time I was the crappiest I have felt in years.
Caring – Nicole was always looking out not only for me but for my accompanying family member.
Integrity – When she told me that she was going to relay something to the ARNP’s or the MD, I could tell that she did when they subsequently paid me a visit.
Respect – When she and I discussed my Plan of Care, I felt as if I was talking with another knowledgeable nurse on my own unit sharing ideas.
Advocacy – We noticed some “rubber stamped” meds ordered for my condition that I did not need. She got them discontinued.
Accountability/Competency – As I do with my patients, she told me everything she was going to do to/for me before she did it, then she did it rapidly, swiftly, and effortlessly.
WOW! Please give this girl a pin and some cinnamon rolls ASAP.
