Hillery managed to keep up with her "normal" job and was still present for every clinic, often working 14 or 15 hour days.
Hillery is always a fantastic leader, but recently she has really gone above and beyond. Hillery was tasked with coordinating the nursing side of all the COVID-19 vaccine clinics with not much notice. She jumped right in ready to help with a smile on her face. Hillery immediately set to work teaming up with IT and pharmacy to organize the clinics. This required multiple meetings and hours of planning along with an actual "run-through" clinic with UMC residents.
Once the vaccine clinics opened for UMC employees, Hillery did not miss a single day. As a nurse leader, your regular responsibilities don't just disappear, but Hillery managed to keep up with her "normal" job and was still present for every clinic, often working 14 or 15 hour days. Hillery also recruited and coordinated multiple nursing volunteers for each clinic from all over the hospital. What stands out is not only how well she helped manage the events, but how she took the time, energy, and kindness to make the volunteers feel genuinely appreciated. Her energetic and magnetic personality has helped keep the vaccination events enjoyable, inspiring, and so positive for not only the volunteers but for everyone receiving vaccinations as well.
Along with all of this awesomeness, Hillery also has picked up many weekend shifts on a COVID unit to help out when they were short-staffed or when the staff nurses just needed a break. No one asked her to do this, but she went the extra mile to ensure both nursing staff and patients were well taken care of. These examples are just a few of the many great things Hillery does. She does not ever expect recognition but is very deserving of being acknowledged for the positive impact she has throughout our hospital.
