Without a doubt, each and every nurse in the SICU on a daily basis demonstrates all of the VA's ICARE principles. Our Veterans are treated medically every day with tender loving and compassionate care every day as though they are family members. Veterans have such respect for our nursing team that they often come back weeks after their discharge to show their gratitude and appreciation for the care they received in the SICU. Veterans heal better because of the professionalism, knowledge, skills, and care provided by the nursing team in the SICU. I am often in awe of their dedication and commitment to our Veterans. The nursing staff work long hard hours ensuring that the patients received the highest quality of care possible and that they are well taken care of.
