She went out of her way to make my surgery and post-op recovery worry-free.
I had outpatient total right hip replacement surgery. My surgical team, my doctor, and the anesthesiologist were all outstanding. I am 2 weeks post-op and doing well. On that day, I also met angel, nurse Karen Margolin. She went out of her way to make my surgery and post-op recovery worry-free. The moment we met, she said that she and I would become friends by the end of the day. How true! She displayed confidence, great knowledge, caring, and had a little drill sergeant attitude that carried me to an excellent post-op course and ultimately home the same day. I was amazed and impressed that she became a nurse late in life. We patients are lucky. Karen not only attended to my needs but also made my wife feel comfortable and aware of what exactly was going on. I am a retired physician's assistant and have seen all levels of nursing. Karen is at the top of the list. Thank you to University Hospitals for my great care and a special thanks to Karen for her compassion, completeness, and caring during my surgery. I know the hug she gave me as I left the hospital started me on this great recovery.
