I’d like to thank Nurse Ashley for listening to me, advocating for me, and helping me when I was urgently seen in OB Triage. I believe that Nurse Ashley’s knowledge, assessment, and advocacy saved my life and the life of my unborn, 27-week-old baby.

When I arrived in triage, I believed I had a PE. A diagnostic exam was not initially ordered to rule out a clot. Nurse Ashley had me ambulate while monitored, revealing an immediate and unsafe drop in my O2 and an increase in my heart rate. She reported that to the midwife immediately leading to further exam which revealed a large PE. In fact, the radiologist reported this was the largest clot he’d ever seen. The chest CT I had revealed my pulmonary artery was nearly completely occluded. It is my belief that without Nurse Ashley’s help and advocacy I would have died after being sent home. I will never be able to thank Nurse Ashley enough for helping me.

This weekend I returned to Meriter to deliver my son at full term. This wouldn’t have been possible without Nurse Ashley! Thank you, Nurse Ashley! I am eternally grateful to have received your care and thankful you were working in triage when I came in.
