I knew Louise had my back and she was my advocate.
I feel you need to know my background to understand my story. I received abnormal NIPT results and I was told by a doctor that my baby was going to have Tuner Syndrome. That doctor mentioned the words “termination”, “stillbirth”, and “miscarriage” before I had the chance to process what I was being told. I spent my whole pregnancy questioning the medical field; I felt betrayed by the way my test results were handled. So, as you can imagine walking into the hospital the night of my induction my anxiety was at an all-time high. By the next morning, I was ready to move to L&D. Louise came into my room that morning with a huge smile on her face. She introduced herself to both me and my husband.

Once we arrived in L&D, she made sure I was comfortable and then focused on my husband. She encouraged him to order breakfast since she knew we had a long day ahead of us. Louise quickly began learning our story. She was not only interested in me as a patient but me and my husband as people. The trust I had in her was immediate. I knew Louise had my back and she was my advocate.

When it was time for my epidural my husband stepped out due to fear of needles but that was okay because Louise stepped in. She encouraged me to breathe. I finally felt like I could trust the healthcare team again. I knew she was there to make sure my baby and I had a smooth delivery and she did just that. When things became intense, I turned to Louise and asked if I was going to be okay, she looked at me and smile and said “yes” and that was all I needed to hear. I knew Louise had my back and wouldn’t let anything happen to me. I know this all sounds like stuff any other nurse would do but Louise is different. Louise was amazing. She really was our angel. She gave a hopeless mother faith again.
