I don't know what I would have done without my Ascension St. Francis nurse Sandie Hoskinson. See, I had surgery done at Via Christi St. Francis. Dr. G did the surgery on my left leg. I fell before that resulting in stitches and staples at a different hospital. My leg turned from purple to black. My primary care physician took one look at it, sent pictures to Dr. S and I was told to go to St. Francis immediately. I was looked at by Dr. G and he scheduled surgery for later that day. I was taken up to a room and had several different nurses - they were all good, but Sandie was my hero.

After my surgery, I was told I could go home the next day. We had family coming over for the holiday. Everything was great until everyone realized I could not get a wound vac for my leg. Sandie saw the tears on my face and worked for more than five hours to find someone to get me a wound vac. Well, we never got the wound vac, but Sandie taught my husband the wet/dry Hysept-25 method to get me home. I got to see my children and grandchildren that evening. She worked above her nursing ability to get me home and I don't know how I will ever repay her. We still do not have a wound vac until we see Dr. G but I am home doing well thanks to Sandie.
