Multi-tasking does not even begin to cover what she did. When I think back about the emotion and the intensity of the entire situation, I realize how blessed we were that Amy took care of Mama
Amy took care of our mother while she was a patient at Jackson. She worked relentlessly trying to stabilize her. She was so kind, gentle, and compassionate. Amy checked Mama many times. Each time she came and always made Mama feel better. She talked to my brother and me and explained all of the phases Mama was going through and what we should expect. I always knew that nurses worked hard. I just didn’t know that they were superhuman angels. Everyone was always calling her and needing something immediately. She was always staying late at shift change. Multi-tasking does not even begin to cover what she did. When I think back about the emotion and the intensity of the entire situation, I realize how blessed we were that Amy took care of Mama. I still cannot comprehend how smart, dedicated and compassionate Amy is. What she does is not a job. It is her life, her heart, her soul. She was efficient and compassionate. She also answered questions about how to turn Mama and use pull sheets. This was invaluable to us when it was just us taking care of Mama at home before she died.
