I was impressed how Jasmine directed the team and kept the patients, and the team feeling safe and secure.
Recently at DaVita Calumet City, we had an incident that really impacted our unit, the patients, and the teammates.
We had a motor vehicle accident that involved 2 cars at our facility. The 1st car ran past the red stop sign and hit the 2nd vehicle causing the vehicle to run into the building and enter the treatment floor. The 2nd vehicle entered the unit causing glass, broken wood particles, and metal to be on the treatment floor. We had smoke and fluids coming from the car. It was a scary situation.
All during this incident, Jasmine remained calm and levelheaded. Jasmine calmed the patients down and assisted teammates. Jasmine called her FA, the Medical Director, and a Calumet City building inspector to make sure the unit was safe to continue treatments. She also contacted the people who board up property when some type of damage has occurred. She spoke with Calumet City Police Department about the accident. The unit was a hot mess due to all the broken glass, wood and metal fragments, car fluids, and smoke from the accident.
Jasmine let the patients know that the treatments could be resumed once the building inspector inspected the building. Jasmine saw the floor was awful and she found our broom and proceeded to sweep up the mess from the car accident. Jasmine also notified the 2nd shift patients that their treatments would be delayed. All in all, she remained calm and kept the unit running in a timely manner. I was impressed how Jasmine directed the team and kept the patients, and the team feeling safe and secure during this unfortunate situation. For this reason, Jasmine is deserving of this DAISY Award. I am proud to have Jasmine as part of the great team of DaVita Calumet City.
