Kiki also created and lead a virtual walk team to raise funding and awareness for Parkinson's Disease to support the mission to make life better for people with Parkinson's.
Kiki shares love and compassion for everyone she encounters. The amount of giving back to her community is astounding. For example, currently helping with Tribe Youth Ministry, where this nurse is a youth group facilitator for kids between 6th-8th grade. Facilitates open dialogue amongst the group to encourage communication about the lessons provided by the ministry leader. Helps with Inner City Solutions by donating to a program to support mothers who were victims of domestic violence working to become entrepreneurs. Participating in the Pink goes Red virtual event to raise awareness of heart disease, promote life changes, and bring awareness to the devastating effects of heart disease in the communities around this country. This nurse also created and lead a virtual walk team to raise funding and awareness for Parkinson's Disease to support the mission to make life better for people with Parkinson's. This nurse donated time and regularly gave to Pearls by the Lake Eve at the Harbor Virtual Fundraiser, Heifer International, Friends of Heifer, Global Impact Day, and Shoes for Soles, where shoe donations go to the children in Haiti.
Exceptional leadership is the greatest attribute. For example, Kiki proctored and managed the first Certification Exam of its kind at her facility, where the first exam in February 2020. The second Exam in November 2020; eleven passed in February, ten passed in November. Study sessions were held before each exam, starting 60 days before the scheduled test. This provided the applicants with the opportunity to review the standards and ask questions. She also implemented the COVID Nursing Treatment Team to ensure we had specific nursing staff assigned to this growing population. This team was implemented in February of 2020 and consisted of clinical staff assigned to care for the PUM, PUI, and PCCs in the towers and the medical infirmary. It then expanded to our release area and case management team to ensure the appropriate transition of the COVID patients back into the community.
This nurse leader used her leadership skills and collaborated effectively to build relationships, such as collaborating to help pregnant females withdraw from opiates during care. This project was a collaboration with Pharmacy, Operations, and community partners. This new process played a significant role in compliance with our accreditation standards, but it also assisted the organization with cost savings by removing the need for admission of pregnant females into a higher level of care for treatment. These patients are now housed in the female medical area to receive their treatment.
I have witnessed this leader show respect and Integrity when hosting meetings during areas to discuss the needed changes to improve medication errors, which staff supported the change to improve their own where they provide to their patient population. Kiki was respectful when a tone of leadership while showing respect and understanding for the staff. I was touched and knew this is a leader I would hope to be one day.
