I nominate Laura because she is my mom’s medical angel. My mom was sent to Providence Hospital from South Baldwin in Foley because they could not properly treat her. Through a series of coincidences and certainly God’s hand, my mom’s first nurse at Providence was Laura. We had just found out my mom may have multiple myeloma. Laura made my mom and dad and I feel comforted. We were in shock to learn my mom had cancer and scared we were going to lose her. Laura was like family immediately and with her skills and knowledge she guided us through the diagnosis and treatments my mom would receive.
Laura made my mom smile and feel comforted amidst the dire circumstances. Laura also paid attention to side effects and drugs my mom was taking and always advocated for my mom. My mom and dad have a winter home in Foley and driving back and forth was burdensome. Laura advocated for me and helped me stay the night and see the doctors I needed to hear from in the morning.
Laura is an angel as stated previously, she has her patient’s best interest always and treats everyone like family. This sweet nurse helped a family from Michigan in the greatest trial we have faced yet! God Bless Laura!
