The nurses on 6A Oncology Unit make each and every patient feel so welcomed and cared for while receiving their chemotherapy treatment. Although the diagnosis of cancer is often very difficult and life-changing, the nurses and assistive personnel do an excellent job of making sure each patient feels comfortable and supported.
So much so that one of their previous patients from two years ago came to the unit and brought a gift for each nurse who took care of him, and a knitted hat for each patient admitted. The patient, now in remission, said he never forgot how kind and excellent all of the nurses were. Since discharge, he has been able to travel to many places that he was at one point not strong enough to go. He stated that none of these things would have been possible without a staff that cared for and encouraged him along the way.
This is just one of many examples of how the staff on 6A go above and beyond for each patient to be a ray of light, during what could be one of the darkest times of their life.
