Ms. Williams is compassionate and caring
Ms. Felicia Williams LPN has been an excellent asset in the eye clinic for 21 plus years where she has been the backbone of the clinic that services more Veterans than any clinic at the AVAHCS on a daily basis.
Ms. Williams has been a steady and integral team member and is rarely absent as evident by her leave balances. She has displayed an unrivaled commitment to her nursing career and to the Veterans. She is a true advocate for the Veterans to ensure appointments are scheduled for surgery by maintaining the operative schedule book performing eye screenings and tests and education regarding pre- and post- eye care procedures.
Ms. Williams willingly assists with every inspection team that surveys the area for compliance including Joint Commission VISN RME and OIG. She actively participates and voluntarily just shows up to answer questions whenever surveyors are in the area. Most importantly she takes the lead to ensure the clinic is always maintained for surveys which in turn ensures safety for the Veterans.
She has and continues to serve as the resource to multiple disciplines including the Tulane residents Ophthalmologists Optometrists Eye Techs and MAS staff. Ms. Williams is skilled at performing eye tests and utilizing a multitude of eye screening equipment that provides for diagnosis of Veteran's eye conditions. Ms. Williams is compassionate and caring as demonstrated by compliments Veterans have submitted. She is often seen pushing Veterans to their cars after scoring a wheelchair for them when she notices they have difficulty with ambulation. Or securing a change of clothes after assisting a Veteran who needs assistance with hygiene issues.

As recognized recently by a colleague who wrote, “ She goes above and beyond for the Veterans and for us here in the Eye Clinic. You are greatly appreciated. Thanks for all that you do; your work does not go unnoticed. When the time comes we can't let you retire. It's great working with you!”
