Siti-Nina has a special gift for communicating with small children, and she soothes their distress just with her presence alone and loving-kindness.
Siti-Nina Julkipli is one of the most exceptional nurses at King Faisal Hospital – bringing heart and soul to her work with outstanding devotion for 18 years here. Siti-Nina constantly radiates positive energy, and willingly gives of herself with loving kindness, extraordinary commitment and bubbling enthusiasm, without ever looking for anything in return. To be in the radius of her daily welcome is a joy for everyone, and the way Siti-Nina cares for her patients, families, and colleagues alike takes the meaning of nursing care to a whole new level. Siti-Nina simply inspires everyone who comes within her scope of practice.

Siti-Nina is known by her medical and nursing colleagues as ‘the Beating Heart’ of the Pediatric Allergy/ Immunology Clinic, providing care for babies and children in the pre and post-phases of Bone Marrow Transplant, as well as their families and donors. Siti-Nina has a special gift for communicating with small children, and she soothes their distress just with her presence alone and loving-kindness. It is beautiful to see children run up the corridor on clinic days with their eyes alight with happiness just to see her. As there is lifetime follow-up for many of these young patients, Siti-Nina is deeply loved by them over years and is considered part of their family. Some of the earliest patients of her career in Immunology are now at University, and the caring bond is such that they still keep in contact with her.

The families of those children on the BMT journey are also at the centre of Siti-Nina’s inexhaustible empathy and compassion. With a rare generosity of spirit, she makes herself available at any time of the day or night for families experiencing difficulties, supporting and guiding them unconditionally. Over 500 families have been given her phone number since she began working in this field, and her integrity and professionalism is trusted completely. Somehow Siti-Nina does all this and still manages to keep her work/life balance intact, as her positive energy never seems to fade.

Siti-Nina has extraordinary practical abilities as well, coordinating care for over 4,000 patient visits a year through the Immunology Clinic. She is also called the Living Directory as she can recite an astonishing number of MRN’s and patient details by heart, because she has cared for them all. One of her medical colleagues stated that “Siti-Nina is simply an amazing human being; a great role model for everyone, both physicians and nurses. She treats the patients as her family, helping anytime without hesitation and with loving-kindness. She lives her work ethics, being the first to work and the last to leave, so sincere and trustworthy.”

Her nursing colleagues say that Siti-Nina exemplifies ‘care in action’, and her team benefits as much as her patients from the joy she radiates. She has a smile ready for everyone at all times; she loves her work and has never been known to have a single ‘down day’. Her presence makes the workplace a happy and positive place to be for everyone to share in it. All who come into contact with Siti-Nina’s genuine humanity and vibrant energy goes away uplifted and inspired to be a better nurse, and a better person. Siti-Nina exemplifies the very best qualities of a true Nurse, one we all admire and respect; and aspire to be more like her, by working genuinely from the heart.
