I wanted to take a minute to share a great experience I had with COVID testing my family last week. Melissa Blanchard was our nurse and she worked so well with my children - ages eight, three, and ten months - to test each one without even a tear or complaint. They seemed to enjoy and be comforted by the experience that could have been very traumatic and anxiety-provoking. Anyone who knows, or works with kids knows that they can be testy. Connecting with three different age groups within the same encounter could be difficult for some nurses. Melissa talked about school with the oldest, played a guessing game with the middle child, and sang a funny song with the baby. An experience that I feared would color the day and start us off on the wrong foot did just the opposite. That is due to Melissa's good care, fun and calm demeanor, and professionalism through it all. From one mother to another, thank you! I was so impressed and inspired by her excellent nursing care. It's a reminder to us all that we have an opportunity with each patient encounter to make a difference. Thanks for taking the opportunity to make a positive impact on our moments of care, our day thereafter, and my children's feelings of care at the hospital afterward. Thank you!
