Lauren Mitchell on the mother-baby floor immediately went into action, transported her to the ER, and helped me triage her through admissions very quickly.
We are about 4 hours away from Albany. Our first grandchild was born at Phoebe. It was truly a blessing that labor and delivery were short and sweet, and we could not have asked for a better experience. The next day, while visiting our daughter and granddaughter, my 87-year-old mother had a stroke. Lauren Mitchell and Samantha Blackwell on the mother-baby floor immediately went into action, transported her to the ER, and helped me triage her through admissions very quickly. Within 15 minutes of the stroke she was being attended to and she is with me today as the result of great care. There are simply not enough words to express how grateful I was for their quick action and kind heart to help us out.

Mom was admitted so I had family on the 4th Floor and the 5th Floor. A little stressful, pure happiness with my sweet baby, and pure fright at the thought of losing my mom. I "slept" sitting up in a chair on the cardiac floor in mom's room. Our daughter was released, and mom required staying an additional day. Due to transportation issues, I was left without a car and had to stay the second night at the hospital. Rebekah Williams had been my mom’s nurse the night before and knew of my restless night and she took it upon herself to connect me with the hospital rooms for patients’ families. They were able to get me into a room that evening and I was able to experience my first good night’s sleep in several days. Again, I was so grateful for Rebekah's efforts and for recognizing my needs while taking such great care of my mom.

So often you hear about what went wrong and rarely do people take the time to thank those that go above and beyond. Please express my gratitude, albeit a bit delayed, to all three of the healthcare workers that made our stay much more manageable. Thank you and best wishes for good health as we all navigate these waters.
