From my very first shift on 3T, it was clear to me the Johnice Hawkins is a different kind of nurse. She is exactly what you'd hope a nurse would be, and then multiply it by 100. Johnice never fails to have a smile on her face and an optimistic attitude despite the trials of difficult nights. As a charge nurse, she is always willing to help others on the floor and I have watched her help so many young nurses become stronger in their practice under her guidance. Johnice treats every member of the care team with the utmost respect, and to be honest, with love. Her love radiates from within. Love for service, for her co-workers, for medicine, and for her patients. I always feel that her patients are so lucky to be cared for by someone like Johnice. There is never "something more important" when Johnice is your nurse. She treats each patient as if they are the only one on the floor. Every person is her priority and her friend.
I truly cannot say enough great things about this extraordinary woman. She is such an inspiration and example of the healthcare provider I want to be. I can think of no one more deserving of the Daisy Award than Miss Johnice Hawkins.
