Alyse contacted SACIS for medical advocacy in the ED for a sexual assault survivor. Alyse was the RN handling this case. SANE nursing and treatment of sexual assault survivors is a skill that many do not have – Alyse was a Natural. Alyse went through the kit thoroughly leaving nothing unturned. She treated the patient with kindness and respect and empathy. She believed the survivor without question, listened to the survivor, was open, and allowed the survivor to be empowered to make informed decisions, make her own decisions, always asked before touching the survivor, and displayed all the qualities it takes to ensure that survivors are not re-victimized in a medical setting. I was highly impressed with her skills. She did an amazing job and we at SACIS hope to work with her again soon.
