She sought out travel opportunities so that she could help make a larger impact where it was needed most
Thalia has been on assignment with Tailored Healthcare since January 4th of this year. Though her time with us hasn’t been extensive, that didn’t stop her from making an impact immediately at Bayfront St. Petersburg Hospital. Thalia was nominated for a DAISY Award at Bayfront within her first three weeks on assignment. Her ability to connect and form relationships with her patients within such a short time frame is a true testament to the kind of person Thalia is in her daily life. She’s full of joy and compassion possesses the values of being an outstanding role model in the nursing community.
As we all know, healthcare professionals have faced some of the most challenging and arduous days and months amid COVID-19. Even with the uncertainty and fear that COVID- 19 caused, Thalia, didn’t shy away from it. She sought out travel opportunities so that she could help make a larger impact where it was needed most. She accepted a crisis travel contract in St. Petersburg to do just that. Thalia has been working in the Intensive Care Unit where many COVID-19 patients are placed. While providing top-notch care to her patients, she would go above and beyond to make her patient’s feel comfortable and at ease.
Though her nomination at Bayfront was anonymous, she has shared with me stories of patients that she really connected with and has shown extraordinary compassionate care. Just one example was a patient of hers recently that was a 74-year-old woman who had come into the hospital as a Trauma MVC patient. She suffered multiple broken bones. In order to make this patient more comfortable, Thalia would brush her hair, give her baths, and checked in on her regularly to make sure she felt cared for. Knowing Thalia’s warm heart and personality, I’m sure there were multiple conversations between them that made this woman feel even more connected to Thalia.
I’d like to share the nomination that Thalia received at Bayfront:
Extreme Kindness. Kindness goes a long way in almost every aspect of life. She treats others like you would want to be treated.
These words echo what I also see in Thalia and display her excellence not only in her clinical expertise but also in her compassionate care. She deserves to be recognized for making such a powerful difference in her nominator’s life.
